Yarn!

I'm back so right to the good stuff!

New Yarn
Finally, here is the yarn I bought while I was in New York City at the beginning of July. Wow, it seems like a lifetime ago now and to think it was just over a month ago. I went to Purl Soho, the Point (whose website I just can't find right now) and Downtown Yarns.

Katia Jamaica
Three skeins of Katia Jamaica in a funky and wild colorway. I plan on making Clapotis out of it.

Handspun
Three skeins of this beautiful handdyed, handspun yarn from a woman named Jamie Harmon. I just couldn't resist this and the woman at Downtown Yarnsgave me a pattern for a cozy neck warmer that I think will be perfect. I am thinking about making each of a different main color and then just knit or crochet a contrasting color around the edge for trim. I don't know if she's reading this right now but let me just say that the people at Downtown Yarns were so good to me and I had such a good time there meeting them and shopping for yarn, I'll be sure to return when I am back in NYC next!

Koigu Sock Yarn
Three skeins of Koigu in the most beautiful colorway. I really want to knit these into a really interesting pair of socks and am considering the illustrious Spearfish sock pattern.

Noro Kureyon
Two skeins of Noro Kureyon in a colorway that is perfect for the Stitch and Bitch Hurry Up Spring armwarmers.

Noro Kochran
Two skeins of Noro Kochran in a blue that reminds me of the sea. I think these will make really nice short herringbone scarves for holiday gifts. Yes, I am thinking ahead, far ahead.

Not shown are two skeins of Noro Silk Garden. Well, one is shown at the bottom of the top photo but I didn't show it up close because I am knitting something with it. I'm almost done too so perhaps I can show my new item tomorrow or the next day.

Lastly, I had a really hard time there. I got a whole slew of really mean comments at the beginning of the summer and then I was extremely busy without a minute to sit down and then when I was ready to sit down we had no internet. I think the forces are conspiring against me. But perhaps the summer just naturally is a time for doing rather than blogging or even knitting as much. During the winter I never really want to do anything but sit around and knit and be a couch potato but during the summer I am up and about almost every night which just doesn't lend itself much to knitting or sewing for that matter. And I'm cool with that, I've been doing other things, keeping myself busy and having one of the best summers ever really. But it is good to be back here, I've sorely missed my internet friends and have been keeping up on all your exploits, even if I am very much on the periphery, I am still there and rooting for you.

I don't even know if anyone reads this anymore but if you do then thanks for sticking it out. If you have been reading regularly you probably have figured out that I am a pretty busy girl and personally I never let my computer get in the way of my life. If noone is reading this then oh well, I know my Mom will and that's what really counts. Not that I don't like being online but we are all allowed have our moments, right? I sure know I do...

Welcome back! Thank you for posting about yarn shops in NYC; I'm hoping to spend a little time there next spring, and yarn shopping is definitely on the list.

I'm still here! I fell the same way about summer - it's just been soooo hot and I can't bear to sit in the apartment all day when there's so much to do outside. And I'm glad to see you did so well at Purl and Downtown Yarns!

glad you're back! summer is a strange blogging time --- everyone seems to be extra busy, I know I haven't been reading my favorites nearly as much. Soon it will be fall and we will be back to our blogging schedules!
